This exquisite 9' Concert Collection Grand Piano was handcrafted in Yamaha's Concert Grand Piano Factory in Japan. The instrument was seasoned for the U.S. climate and put into service in 1999. It was selected by The Metropolitan Opera in New York City and placed in the Liszt Hall at The Met. The Lid of the piano still bears the prestigious brass identification plate as 'Metropolitan Opera Piano Reserve No. 442'. While at the Met, it was used for numerous concerts and recitals in Liszt Hall. This Piano also entertained the world during the intermission features of the company's celebrated weekly ChevronTexaco - Metropolitan Opera international radio broadcasts, Saturday Afternoon at the Met, when this CFIIIS Concert Grand was used to accompany the interviews, opera quizzes, and impromptu interludes that were done in between acts. It has been heard by literally millions of music lovers.
After the piano's three years of service at the Met, it was a much sought after and often requested instrument in Yamaha's Artist Reserve in Manhattan. It was played by elite artists at the Brooklyn Jazz Festival, used in television performances by The O'Neil Brothers, featured at The Long Island Jazz Festival, and played by Chick Corea, Norah Jones, Michael
McDonald, and many other artists. It was also the choice of Baroque Master, Paul Sheftel, when he presented a series of concerts featuring Bach Partitas. Whether it was opera, jazz, contemporary pop, or Bach, the sound, the touch, and the response of this instrument received the highest of accolades.
